Enabling and using the CAD board
What the CAD board does
The CAD board is a station alerting wall-board. When your department is dispatched, the board shows the call type, location, units, and which members are responding — big and readable from across the bay. It is driven by your Active911 account, so it reflects the same dispatches and responder check-ins your members already use.
The two sides of the module
- The admin side lives under
/cad-board. This is where an admin connects Active911, configures the board, defines units and call types, and pairs TVs. Open it from the Launchpad or the side menu. - The display side is the public board itself at
/cad/{your-slug}. This is the URL you open on the station TV. It runs on its own with no member login — it is gated by a display token instead.
Getting started
- Connect Active911 — see Connecting Active911.
- Configure the board (station name, logo, alert sound, map mode, theme) — see Configuring the board.
- Set up your units, area buckets, call types, and allowed responses.
- Pair your station TV with a display token — see Pairing TVs & display tokens.
- Fire a test alert to confirm everything shows up — see Test alerts & diagnostics.
For the fastest possible alerts, also set up the Active911 webhook — see Near-instant alerts with the Active911 webhook.
