Test alerts & diagnostics

Sending a test alert

Open CAD Board → Test alert at /cad-board/test-alert. This sends a harmless practice dispatch to your own board so you can confirm the sound plays, the call shows, and the layout looks right on the TV. The alert appears within about one poll cycle — roughly your poll_seconds setting.

Test alerts are rate-limited so they cannot flood the board or your Active911 usage. The whole module is designed to stay under Active911's 25 requests per minute cap, so if you fire tests rapidly you may be asked to wait a moment.

Diagnostics

The Diagnostics page at /cad-board/diagnostics is your first stop when the board looks empty, stale, or wrong:

  • It surfaces the current connection and token status.
  • It helps confirm whether the issue is the Active911 connection, the configuration, or the display device.
  • It includes a clear-cache action that forces the board to re-fetch fresh data — useful after you change settings and want the board to pick them up immediately.

Quick troubleshooting order

  1. Run Test connection on the settings page — is Active911 reachable and the token valid?
  2. Fire a test alert — does anything reach the board at all?
  3. Check Diagnostics and clear the cache if settings changed recently.
  4. Confirm the TV is showing the correct paired display URL.
