Configuring the board
Where to configure
All of this lives on CAD Board → Settings at /cad-board/settings (admin only).
Station identity
- Station name, subtitle, and number show in the board header so the screen clearly belongs to your house.
- Logo — upload a logo on the settings page; it appears on the board. You can remove it later to fall back to your department branding.
Alert sound
Choose the tone that plays when a new dispatch hits the board (for example a fast beep). Pick something attention-getting but not jarring for the crews who live with it.
Map mode: View vs Route
- View shows the incident location on the map.
- Route draws driving directions from the station to the incident. Route mode needs a station address on file; if one is not set, the board falls back to View mode and tells you why.
Refresh rate (poll seconds)
The poll_seconds setting controls how often the board checks for updates. The default is 6 seconds, and the minimum is 3 seconds. The board is also adaptive: it polls fast (about every 6 seconds) right around an active dispatch and slows down to roughly every 60 seconds when things are quiet. This keeps the board responsive during a call while staying comfortably under Active911's 25-requests-per-minute cap the rest of the time.
Theme
Set the board theme to auto, dark, or light. In auto mode you can set the daytime start and end hours so the board switches to a light look during the day and dark at night. You can also adjust the board colors.
