What the Responder App does

What it is

The Firehouse 360 Responder App puts your department's dispatches on your phone. When a call comes in, your phone alerts with the tone your department chose, shows the address and call type, and lets you tell everyone whether you are coming and where you are going.

⚠ It supplements your pager and radio — it does not replace them

Keep using your pager and radio exactly as you do now. The app is a second way of hearing about a call, not the primary one. A notification has to travel across the mobile network and through services run by Google or Apple before it reaches your phone, and any of those can be slow or fail. Your department is required to keep its existing alerting running, and you should never treat the app as your only way of learning about a call.

What happens on a call

  1. The dispatch arrives and the app alerts — full screen if your phone allows it, otherwise a banner.
  2. You mark up: station, scene, or whatever responses your department has set.
  3. Everyone else sees who is responding, so an officer knows what is coming before anyone arrives.
  4. The call, the responses, and the times are recorded for the department's records.

What it shows you

  • The call type, address, cross streets, priority and dispatched units.
  • Who else has marked up, and what they said.
  • A map with the call, the nearest hydrants and landing zones, and any pre-incident plan for the building.
  • A log of every response on the call, with times.
