Building check templates

What a template is

A template is the checklist for an apparatus, made of sections (groups, like "Cab", "Pump panel", "Compartments") and items within each section. You build templates from an apparatus's pages and can organize them with sections, items, and reordering.

Item types

Each item is a question, and you pick the type that fits:

  • Pass/Fail — the classic checkbox: is it good or not?
  • Choice — pick from a defined set of options.
  • Number — record a reading, such as a pressure, level, or mileage.
  • Text — free-form notes for anything that needs description.

You can attach guidance images to sections so crews know exactly what they are looking at.

Scheduling a template

A template can carry a schedule so the system knows when a check of it is due — for example weekly or monthly. The schedule is what populates the Due view and drives reminders. Templates can also be set to run only as needed rather than on a fixed cadence.

The completion report

When a check finishes, it produces a completion report: every item with its result, any numbers recorded, notes, and which items were flagged. Reports are dated and kept, so you can prove a truck was checked and see exactly what was found. Reports can be printed for a paper file.
