Custom free-standing templates

When apparatus templates are not the right fit

Some checks are not about a single truck — a station opening checklist, a post-incident reset, a quarterly safety walk-through. For those, use Custom templates at /custom. These are free-standing checklists that do not belong to any one apparatus.

Building a custom template

From /custom you create a new template and build it out with the same pieces as apparatus templates: sections and items, where each item is Pass/Fail, a choice, a number, or text. Add and remove sections and items, and edit the template's details to suit the task.

Running a custom check

1. From /custom, start a check from the template.
2. You are taken to the custom check runner at /custom/check/{id}.
3. Work through it item by item; your progress is saved as you go.
4. Finalize when done, or cancel if it was started by mistake.

Custom checks behave like apparatus checks — same runner experience, same dated completion record — they simply are not attached to a specific rig.
